Our History

Only God can know the total impact and eternal results in the lives of those who have been touched by the ministries at Faith Community Church.

Faith Community Church had its indirect beginning when Evangelist David Wilcox held tent meetings in July of 1932.  God's message in song and word at those meetings brought about changed lives, among them ten men who met together, prayed and formed the "Christian Minute Men's Committee".  This group grew in number.  In October of 1937, they began meeting in the Municipal Building.  Rev. John Gordon became their first pastor on January 1, 1938 and served until 1940.

The church did establish a strong foothold and begin growing.  Rev. Harold Powell, a young pastor from Riverside, California, was installed as pastor on March 29, 1944.  The church was called The Open Bible Church until it became known as Faith Community Church.  The years of Rev. Powell's ministry were marked by steady growth, the purchase and remodeling of a building at 218 N. Main Street.  After 38 years, Pastor Powell retired in 1982.

The congregation called Rev. William Bartz of Williams Bay to be its new Senior Pastor in February 1982.  Pastor Powell and Pastor Bartz worked together until September 1982, when Pastor Powell officially retired.  Pastor Bartz brought youth and energy to build on the solid foundation already established.  He served for ten years during in which time substantial growth occurred and land was purchased for a new church facility on Hackbarth Road.  A Christian School (K-8) was also established under his leadership.

In October 1992, Pastor Bartz resigned and was succeeded by Don Christianson who served in that position until his retirement in January 2001.  Under Pastor Christianson's leadership, the church family continued to grow and prosper.  Our present church and school facility was built on the land previously purchased.

From February 2001 to February 2004, Rev. Rick Lackore was called to serve the membership and lead the church into the new millennium with the vigor of youth and vitality to pave new pathways for the future of Faith Community Church.  Under his leadership, the church caught a renewed vision for our community and taking Christ to our streets which leads us to our current Senior Pastor, Dan Pierce.
